Subj: Lipitor nightmare
Date: 9/13/2009
Taking lipitor for me is a nightmare! My own family doctor said to take 10 mg but the (young) cardiologist boosted it up to 40 mg! I have profuse sweating occurring randomly many times of the day or night. I can feel the sweat break out in my head and actually see the sweat beads roll down my body! I also have insomnia, can only sleep maybe 2 or 3 hours max a night, and to top it off I have decreased urination. I feel my bladder is not empty but I cannot urinate anymore. As well as lower left back ache . . . I want to get off this med now. It is making me sicker than I ever was before not worth it. I would rather restrict cholestoral intake in a natural way. At least try that first than going to this extreme madness of taking lipitor. Please try natural remedies before doing this.

Subj: Severe rash under arms
Date: 9/16/2009
I have been taking 20 mg of Lipitor for several years and have never had any side effects. I recently developed a severe rash under my arms, and thought it was caused by either my deodorant or the Dove body wash that I use. I switched both to natural products, and with prednisone, the rash disappeared. It's been 2 months since it first appeared, and is now back --- I wonder if it could be the Lipitor that is causing it, any thoughts?
Julie

AskDocWeb: A rash is listed as one of the possible side effects that should be reported to your doctor so please get it checked out.

Subj: Leg and feet pain
Date: 10/4/2009
I started taking Lipitor in middle of May. June 1st, I tore my right calf muscle sprinting in the backyard with the kids. Figured a sign of getting old, not stretching, etc. Leg got better, then in middle of August tore left calf muscle walking up a slight incline on golf course. Leg and feet pain have been really bad. Horrible fatigue as well - couldn't stand to watch son's soccer or hockey games more than 10 minutes. Put it together 6 weeks ago that maybe Lipitor was responsible and stopped taking. Pretty upset that I had to bring to Dr's attention and it didn't dawn on him that maybe it was Lipitor. Legs better, but still sore and tender. How do I know that Lipitor is the cause? Was also on blood thinner as I developed a blood clot from the first tear. One heck of a summer!!!

Subj: Red spots
Date: 10/10/2009
I have been taken Lipitor 20mg for about 4 months. After about two months I noticed some red spots on my right arm after a while (a week or so) they started to itch. I have been treating the itch with a topical (Clobex) which stops the itching but the redness has not gone away. My doctor put me on Prednisone for 7 days. Could Lipitor be causing my problem? My Doctor doesn't think so.
David
