Inconsistent + for methadone
Thank you for the answer you gave to the best of your ability. You are the only one that has defined it even close. I'm coming to this site from now on, no more searching for info on the net. Thank you so much. You confirmed what my mom said about it. Thanks.
AskDocWeb: You are welcome. Good luck Adam.
I dont understand
I am wondering what may cause a test to come up positive for amphetamines. i tested positive for it in a drug test for a drs office and i have not taken anything that was not legal. i was given predisone and a z-pac for pharyngitis. i also took cold relief meds with phenylephrine and dextromethorphan. I dont understand why it would have came up positive when i didnt take anything else.
AskDocWeb: The simple fact is, urine tests are not perfect. A certain percentage of the results will show up as false positive and false negative. Don't take it personal, it's just a test. A positive result does indicate that additional testing is justified. The additional testing is usually a GC/MS confirmation test, which rules out false positives.
Can generic Tessalon produce a false postive for methamphetamine? Our son has been on probation for over a year and has passed every drug test to date, except for todays and this is what he is on right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
AskDocWeb: Tessalon (Benzonatate) does not show up on 5, 9, 10, or 12 panel drug tests. A confirmation test will reveal what is really in his system.
Failed urine test
I visited the ER on 8/15/12. My diagnoisis was Urethritis, Unspecified. They prescribed me the following: Hydrocodine-Acetaminophen(Norc) for pain, Phenazopyridine(Pyridium) for pain, and Sulfamethoxazole-Trimethoprim (Bactrim). I took a urine test and failed it. I wasnt using any drugs besides those. This is causing me my lively hood and possible jail time! Please tell me what could of possibly of been in those prescriptions that i failed today! Today is 8/9/12. Thanks.
AskDocWeb: There seems to be some mixup as your "today" seems to be almost a month before your post. But let's set that aside. According to a SAMHSA-certified drug testing laboratory, Bactrim may test positive for benzodiazepines (Reference: 60. A confirmation test would seem to be worth getting, even if you have to pay for it out you own pocket to avoid jail time. However, if it turn out not to be a false positive, that could result in a stiffer sentence.
I had been takeing bactrim and a sinus dspray and i also tested postive for barbituates.
AskDocWeb: What is the name of your sinus dspray?
Tea tree oil?
Hello, I'm currently using the product Tea Tree Therapy Suppositories which contains tea tree oil to naturally treat a yeast infection. I have a drug screening for a new job and I wanted to ensure that tea tree oil would not cause any false positives. Thank you!
AskDocWeb: Tea tree oil does not show up on standard urine drug screens used for employment drug testing. However, in 2009 there was an article published on Natural News about drug testing kits used by Police to test suspect substances for drugs. The narcotics identification kits (NIKs) that are widely used by Police falsely identify tea tree oil as a narcotic.
Would any of these meds come back as dextrorphan? Suboxone, 12mg, Ritalin, Wellbutrin, Abilify, Seraquil and Gabapentin.
AskDocWeb: No, dextrorphan is the metabolite of dextromethorphan, which can cause a number of false positives on urine drug tests but it wouldn't show up unless they were testing specifically for dextrorphan.
i take a drug test weekly and my THC levels were going down until me and my boyfriend started haven sex again. my test showed new useage and my leaves where high
Asprin or advil?
Can i drop dirty for THC if i take a asprin or advil?
AskDocWeb: Aspirin wouldn't be a problem but a number of sources say that Advil (Ibuprofen) may test false positive for THC (References: 1, 14, 16, 18, 20, 26, and 29).
Positive for methadone?
Could a urine test come back positive for methadone after anesthesia?
AskDocWeb: Although that is theoretically possible it would not necessarily be caused by the anesthesia.
False positive glyburide?
I have been having severe hypoglycemic episodes for a very long time. I recently had a sulfonylurea test done and it showed a positive result for glyburide the first time. The second time the test was taken it was negative for glyburide. I've never taken glyburide in my life. Is it possible for the lab to have a false positive result because nothing else makes any sense. Are there any prescriptions or over the counter medications that can cause a positive result for glyburide? Please help me. Thank you.
AskDocWeb: Our database doesn't contain a listing for anything that might show a false positive for glyburide. However this crops up in the news from time to time. Last year an article in the Journal of Emergency Medicine (October 2011, Lung DD et al.) described glyburide poisoning from ingesting what was thought to be "Street Valium".
An article in the February 12, 2009 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine covered an outbreak of hypoglycemia in 5 hospitals in Singapore. There were 149 non-diabetic men ranging from 19 to 97 years of age that had urine and blood samples showing positive for glyburide. When questioned, 30% of the men admitted to taking illegal counterfeit ED medication. Similar cases have been reported in other cities. The counterfeit ED medication, marketed as "generic Viagra" did contain trace amounts of sildenafil citrate but not in the correct form found in VIAGRA. Many of these counterfeits contain a mixture of herbs such as Santi Bovine Penis Erecting Capsules which also contain glyburide along with several other dangerous ingredients.
What is meta-amphetamine?
I take Zyprexa (olanzapine)and tested pos. for benzodiazapines. What is meta-amphetamine? I take Adderall and tested positive for it.
AskDocWeb: It sounds like what you think you heard may not have been what was said. It's not meta-amphetamine but rather methamphetamine, sometimes shortened to just meth. Methamphetamine is an addictive drug that strongly activates certain systems in the brain. The main neurotransmitter affected by methamphetamine is dopamine, which is involved with our natural reward system. For example, feeling good about an accomplishment occurs because the brain produces dopamine. Methamphetamine is a Schedule II drug also known as Speed, Meth, Ice, Crystal, Chalk, Crank, Tweak, Uppers, Black Beauties, Glass, Bikers Coffee, etc.
I go to the methadone clinic. and I do not use cocaine at all. no way shape form or anything... but I have failed to drug test with a positive for cocaine. Is there anything that could be giving me a false positive and I maybe taking? I'm just super confused!
AskDocWeb: Yes, there are a few possibilities. Some antibiotics (Amoxicillin, Ampicillin) have shown up as cocaine as has bupivacaine, Cola tea, cola leaf, cola flour, cola oil, diabetes, kidney disease, and tonic water. And although the chances are very small there is also a possibility of human error during the testing process. Getting a confirmation test will clear things up because that will show if cocaine is actually in your system or not.
