Cocaine use? Continued
Yes I know.. I already knew about cocaethylene. I already knew it was a metoblite of cocaine only when using alcohol. Yes and it very well could be a problem that he never tested positive for adderall. Thank you for your information. I will deal with it from here. You have been very helpful. So very helpful!

Positive for cocaine
My cousin had a full CBC panel with diff and full drug screen, as well as urinalysis. He went to the Dr's for his results and was informed that everything came back as it should have except for the fact that he was positive for cocaine. He has not done cocaine and it should have not been in his system. He is currently prescribed Klonopin, as well as some other opiod pain medications, and uses an albuterol inhaler as well as albuterol nebulizer as needed. He also has been using the max dose of over the counter Hurricane, which is an oral/ topical numbing agent for mouth and tooth pain. Is it possible for him to have a false positive for the combination of his prescription drugs and the OTC meds he has been using?
AskDocWeb: The drugs you list have not been reported to cause a false positive for cocaine. While it is still possible that the result was a false positive the chance of that is very small. You would need to get a confirmation test to find out for sure if it was a false positive or not.
I have not seen a Doctor for more than three months and there is no way for me to obtain a note from a Doctor. I can only and probably prove to show that my name is on that old prescription bottle of medications that I have been taken. Those medications are left overs from all those past prescriptions that I have, because I normally just take those medications when I have severe pain, inflammation and swelling for gout attack, which I have at that time, to tolerate the severe pain. In addition, I have also taken some over the counter ibuprofen and cold medications.
I understand, If I cannot provide a note, he will consider it as an accurate positive result and will cause a ground for termination plus it will be in my record as a Termination due to positive drug test. In other hand, I cannot also refused to take the drug test because it will also cause my Termination due to Refusal to take the drug test. And the last options consider is a Resignation (As he forcing me to do so). If I refuse the random drug test, or have a false positive result I will be terminated.
I was recently given an gc-ms drug test and showed positive for nordiazepam. I take klonopin, hydrocodone, depakote, abilify, melatonin, excedrin, imitrex, ibuprofen, was recently on a zpak and valarian root. can any of these show up false positive for nordiazepam?
AskDocWeb: Nordiazepam is an active metabolite of diazepam, chlordiazepoxide, clorazepate, pinazepam, and medazepam. It is also marketed under the brand names Calmday, Madar, Nordazepam, Nordaz, Stilny, and Vegesan. This is a benzodiazepine derivative. Both Klonopin and valerian root have shown up as false positives for benzodiazepine on urine drug screens.
Down 2 earth potpourri
If smoked down 2 earth potpourri will it show up in a redwood urine test?
AskDocWeb: We have not seen any evidence of that down 2 earth potpourri shows up on any urine test.
Drug test came back positive
I just took a drug test it came back pos for meth, amp, thc, and I take lortab ambien zoloft zantac bc powders zanex soma why did I fail for those drugs? I do not use any of those drugs.
AskDocWeb: The only we see that might be a false positive is the zantac. However, that has only shown up as Amp, not meth or THC.
False positive on GC/MS?
I recently came up as a positive for amphetamines on a drug test. I in no way use drugs but i had recently been sick and took cough syrup with phenylephrine and also a workout suplement with dimethylamine. could either of these cause a gc/ms reading of positive?
AskDocWeb: The short answer is no. Phenylephrine may test positive on the EMIT urine test but not on the GC/MS confirmation test. There are at least two ways they can distinguish the difference between the two. The mass spectrogram creates a fragmentation pattern of the molecules being tested after bombardment by electrons. This results in a distribution of fragments based on the mass to charge ratio. The fragmentation pattern of phenylephrine and amphetamine are entirely different.
They can also tell the difference by the molecular weight (MW) of the compound. Since the molecular weight of amphetamine is 145 and the molecular weight of phenylephrine is 167, it would be easy to distinguish the two. The probability of confusing phenylephrine for amphetamine using mass spectroscopy is very close to zero.
I suffer from depression. I was perscribe cymbalta for depression. I got sick with the flu so the doctor told me to use therflu for my cold. 2months later she shows me a drug test where i tested positive for pcp. how did this happen? I have never done or even tried it.
AskDocWeb: Theraflu is available in different formulas, daytime or nighttime varieties and the active ingredients differ depending on the formula. Some formulas contain Diphenhydramine, which is used to treat sneezing, runny nose and cough. Unfortunately some urine tests show positive for PCP when Diphenhydramine is detected.
Popped for opiates
My question, I just popped for opiates today at the methadone clinic. At first it didn't make any sense because I hadn't used any type of opiate since I had started methadone a month prior. But then I remembered that the day before the pee test I sold the last piece of my heroin and I had the dope on my fingers for at least twenty min. I'm really surprised that you can pop for opiate just by coming in contact. I guess it makes sense. But I just figured the threshold they tested for would be a lot higher. Does anyone know if this is even possible? or did the lab just screw up on my drug screening.
i went to doctor yesterday for my perscription i am on norco for my back last night they call and said it wasnt in my system but i had pot and zanix i dont do either one after she put the urine on the strips it laid there for i know 20 because i was talking to my cousin because she works there it could have laid there longer i dont know because it was in the open and i left why did it come back like that?
AskDocWeb: If the person performing the test does not follow the proper procedure then the test is invalid. That may or may not be the case but it is a possibility.
Guaifenesin and pseudoephedrine HCI
I have been under the weather lately so I have been taking a mucus relife that contains guaifenesin and pseudoephedrine HCI could this cause a false positive for THC?
AskDocWeb: They may show up as amphetamines but not THC.
Best reference for false positives
This is the best reference I have ever seen. I tested positive for methamphetamine today at probation. Meth was my drug of choice before I quit 14 months ago. I do, however, take Ranitidine (Zantac) every day for heartburn. Turns out this can give a false positive for meth. This whole experience has been HUMILIATING for me, because I knew I was telling the truth. I have turned my life around. Thank you for this thorough list. It helped ease my mind. My urine was sent to the crime lab for further testing. I should be vindicated before Christmas, I hope. Thanks again.
AskDocWeb: You are welcome Susan, and thanks for letting us know.
Afraid of drug test
I pass my drugs test today, but I'm afraid because I took this morning tea with PANAX GINSENG EXTRACT I also drink cup of coffee before my test. but I never use drugs in my life.
AskDocWeb: Coffee-Break is a product that is no longer available in the USA or Canada. Regular and decaffeinated coffee does not show up on a drug test, nor does ginseng extract. If that is the worst that you have done then you are probably okay for the test.
Does down 2 earth show up in any kind of urine test? And if so is anyone allowed to test you for it without you knowing? Example: a job urine, school urine, probation, ect.
AskDocWeb: Are you talking about down 2 earth bath salts or incense? So far, neither has shown up on urine drug tests. As for testing without you knowing, that gets a little complicated but not in the way that you might think. When an employer tests you for the illegal use of drugs, they can easily request a complete medication screen. According to an article in the Journal of Psychoactive drugs this appears to be a common practice. This gives employers access to confidential medical information which allows them to avoid hiring people with undesirable medical conditions. If you are being treated for anxiety, depression, ulcers, heart disease, insomnia, diabetes, or high blood pressure, you may be "screened out" and denied employment as a result of your drug test. Of course they do not tell you that. They just say the job was given to someone else. According to the ACLU many places routinely test women for pregnancy without their knowledge or consent.
Bad experience at pain management
Dear sirs, I found your page very useful. I recently went to pain management and was given a urine test after the 5 minute results came in that I had marijuana, meth, opiates and some unknown substances in it. Now I have been clean of meth for several years now I gave it up cold turky too. As for the marijuana I haven't used that in over a year and dont plan on using it until i get my medical card for it. The opiates I know came from my vicodin after reading in this site. I confronted my pain management doctor who even after I contested the results still treated me like a drug addict. I sent him a email telling him of this site and gave him the reference that he use this site so that he does not offend someone else and a week later he had the cops come to my door stating that I had stolen one of his perscription pads. Since then I have reported him to the state over these incidents and have canceled any further appointments with him and I have also told my primary doctor about him. My thanks.
AskDocWeb: You are welcome Cameron. Having to deal with pain management is hard enough by itself. But being unjustly accused of drug abuse is just adding insult to injury.
