After 15 years
Been on celebre for 15 yrs.for arthritis in my back and neck. My arthritis got worse over time and started taking 2 x 200 a day and started feeling weak and sick 2 days later...knew it was the celebre because nothing else changed. What else can I do or take ? Help !!!
AskDocWeb: What else might be taken varies with the individual so you will need to consult with your personal healthcare provider.
Bad neck and back pain
I have been taking Celebrex, about 20 years, related to severe back pain. I run out of them about a week ago the last few days I am witnessing bad neck and back pain don't know whether to stay of them or not.
Lower back pain and numbness
I have been taking Celebrex 200 mg for three years. I broke my hip. It wasn't fixed right and I had to have my hip done again. I walked around for a whole year with a 3/4 inch difference in my legs. Now I am having lower back pain and my hands have started sting and having numbness. Could this problem with my hands have to do with Celebrex? It started one month a go. I'm trying to figure out what's going on Celebrex or nerve damage??
AskDocWeb: Celebrex has not been reported to cause lower back pain or numbness in the hands. However, it is suprising that it took that long to develop problems with a spine that far out of alignment.
Itchy skin, indigestion, black tar stools and insomnia
I have been on celebrex post total knee replacement 2 months ago. I started to have symptoms: itchy skin, indigestion, black tar stool, insomnia. I discontinued the drug 6 days ago. How long will these symptoms persist?
AskDocWeb: That depends on what is causing the symptoms. There is a possibility that your symptoms may be caused by an unrelated problem and should be discussed with your doctor. The black tar stools may indicate internal bleeding.
Rash, brusing and night sweats
Was taking 800 mg ibruphen 3x a day and dr changed me to Celebrex as it has fewer gi issues. After a month I've had rash, easy brusing and night sweats. Going back to ibruphen.
AskDocWeb: Please talk to your doctor before making any changes with your prescription medication.
Treating cancer or depression?
I have sciatica in my left hip, thigh and knee. I needed radiation 5 years ago for lymphoma (I am currently in remission) but this destroyed my lumbar vertebrae causing the sciatica. Just started on Celebrex (nothing else has worked) so still waiting to see if it helps sciatica pain. I noticed on the internet that some investigation going on to see if Celebrex can be useful in treating some types of cancer and also depression. Can someone comment on these possibilities.
AskDocWeb: There is some evidence that the enzyme COX-2 may help cancers to grow. COX-2 blockers such as Celebrex are sometimes used to try to prevent bowel cancer in people at high risk of developing it.
Clinical trials are looking at whether Celebrex can treat or prevent other types of cancer, including, colon cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer and bladder cancer.
I gained 7 lbs in approx 6 mos. I have never before had such trouble keeping my wright down. I have always watched and counted calories. While taking Celebrex it simply didn't matter . I'm nearly starving and still I am gaining. Several days I forgot to take it. Of course my joints swelled up and became inflamed but I happened to notice that my weight had dropped a bit . Went back on it and my weight started climbing again . I became suspicious so now I'm not taking it at all and see if I drop these 7 pounds. I know some of it is water weight because it is tingly in certain areas of my body..
Can Celebrex cause Rhinitis? I have had a stuffed nose since starting it 6 days ago. I also had two nights of horrible insomnia. Stopped taking it today and hope my sense of smell and taste returns Karen
AskDocWeb: According to the Celebrex labeling sheet from the manufacturer (Pfizer), the rate of occurance of rhinitis in Celebrex users ranges 0.6% to 2.4%.
My Celebrex is out dated ,expired date 2013.would they be of any benefit now.than you.
