Losing weight slowly
Been on 35 mg twice a day for 7 days, I have only lost 2 lbs. very upsetting when I read that some/most are loosing a pound a day.
AskDocWeb: Here are a couple of things to consider; Those who lose weight quickly are the most likely to regain that lost weight. Those who lose weight slowly are much more likely to keep their weight under control over time.
After stopping I gained 25 pounds
I've used this product and it was great, improved my mood, gave me sense of well being and energy. Side effects were fast heart beat, dry mouth. my hyperactivity would follow with total crush. I could sleep for 14 hours. I stopped taking it after I achieved desired weight but after stopping I gain 25 pounds ..i tried taking it again and it didnt give me the same effect . Plus my personality changed and i was much friendlier and was making very risky decisions. And i had problem with concentration.
AskDocWeb: This appetite suppressant only one part of a three part treatment for weight loss. If the medication is used without making the lifestyle changes to diet and activity level (exercise), the lost weight usually comes back when the drug is discontinued.
Bontril SR 7
I started taking bontril SR 7 days ago. I've taken it a few times before with great results. I have lost 5 pounds, but I feel terrible! I've had a Headache, hot flushed arms and face with pressure in my hands and head, and decreased blood pressure. I need help with my weight, but I'm not sure I should keep taking it with the side effects. Are they dangerous?
AskDocWeb: The side effects may or may not be dangerous. That needs to be determined by your doctor. Any side effect that becomes a concern should be discussed with your healthcare provider.
I started bontril 3 days ago so I know it's not enough time to see if I will lose weight. But I don't feel hardly anything with this medicine really. I have taken adipex before and it is nothing like that. There is no huge spike in energy and I'm still hungry. I'm on the time released capsule so that may be why but. I still yawn feel hungry and sleepy all day. I'm on blood pressure medicine so that may have something to do with it but I'm going to continue to take it and go back to the doctor after a month to see if I have lost any weight.
Super bad headache
First day on Bontril. Super bad headache today but still positive none the less. I'll keep you guys posted!
AskDocWeb: Thanks Candy, welcome to the forum. What is your starting weight and goal weight?
What's the average weight lose per week for this medication. I am 5'5 and weight 140 Thanks
AskDocWeb: Hello Amy, welcome. Bontril is a medication prescribed for those who are obese. Typically that refers to those with a Body Mass Index or BMI of 30 or more. Have you checked your BMI? Fortunately you do not appear to be in that group.
I am stuck
I have been taking Bontril for almost 3 months now. I have lost 18lbs but I feel like I am stuck. I eat significantly less and healthier.. I have not worked out in the past 2 weeks only... But I am pretty active. Is this normal. Will I keep loosing weight? I am 5'6" 195 i was 211. Also I have been getting hemorrhoids is that normal?
AskDocWeb: When you are on a weight loss program and get stuck, that's the time to consult with your doctor to assess your progress and maybe adjust your program or treatment.
Getting hemorrhoids is not typical for those using Bontril but it does happen to some. The most common cause of hemorrhoids is repeated straining while having a bowel movement.
How long before it bontril wears off?
I'm taking bontril the 105 capsule ? Slow release .. Love it ... But I pulled muscles in my leg very badly and I'm in a lot of pain .. I don't like to mix drugs ( very sensitive ) I need to take a pain pill to take the edge off so I can sleep .. How long before it bontril wears off so I' can take the other?
AskDocWeb: Bontril goes through the body pretty fast compared to most drugs. Since the average half-life of elimination is about 3.7 hours for both the extended-release and immediate release forms, it is usually out of your system within 24 hours.
I'm 55. I've been taking Bontril for about two weeks. My metabolism is very slow and my weight has been stuck even with dieting. I've lost a pound or two which is fine, at least it's moving down. But I'm having some heart palpitations especially noticeable at night. Is this a concern? Is it normal? Should I stop? I want to continue. Just concerned.
AskDocWeb: Some side effects are warning signs that may require medical attention right away. These include:
Lost and gained
Got my first grey after several weeks of starting this . Now I have too many to count. Has this happened to anyone else? Also eye sight gets blurry sometimes. No jitters. Been on it for several years because when dr gets me off it i gain some of the weight back. Does work lost over 30 lbs along with diet and exercise. Then gained
Hair started falling out
I have used Bontril and Phentermine on and off for a couple of years. I've taken breaks in between as well. I noticed my hair started falling out and read that phentermine can cause that is actually quite common. Does Bontril do the same thing? I have seen one Little blurb in all the places I've looked online that said 1 person in a 60 person trial had some hair loss on Bontril. That was it. Does anyone know? Would love to at least be able to use Bontril on super hungry days.
