Subj: Numbness in hands
I have experienced numbness in my hands at night. Could this be a side effect of the medicine?
AskDocWeb: It is rare but numbness, especially on one side of the face or body is one of the side effects of Adipex. There are also other causes so please report this to your doctor.
Subj: My body has become use to it
I started taking Adipex in January 2008 and now it is like my body has become use to it. I have begun to have cravings and my weight loss is at a halt. How can I break this plateau and get back to loosing weight and feeling like I did when I first started taking the pill. Also, how long can I take the pill? Will it harm my body to take it until July or until I reach my goal weight? I have 60 more pounds to go.
AskDocWeb: If you have built up a tolerance for this drug then continuing to take it after it stops working is a waste of time and money. Talk to your doctor about an alternative.
Subj: Lost 40 pounds but...
I have used generic phentermine/Adipex for about four months (two months each). I started at 298 lbs. and have lost about 40 lbs. I quit eating bread/rice/pasta/potatoes/fried/sweets, drink only tea and water, started out walking (but now run) 3 - 5 miles per day. The drug never suppressed my appetite. I am always hungry sometimes to a point of being miserable. Dr. said eat fruit to control hunger but it has minimal effect. Thought at first it was just psychological from being used to eating but when my stomach growls and aches I think that goes into the physical realm. Usually about an hour after taking the pill I feel so tired that it was hard to stay awake. I never got any 'boost' or felt any jitters. I have become moody and solemn most of the time. Friends and family think I have am on 'drugs' not meds and worry that I am sinking into a depressive state. Dr. recommended switching from generic phentermine to Adipex but there was no change. I really need to lose another 35 pounds but this is absurd. Dr. is ecstatic about the weight loss and just seems to ignore the symptoms I have reported. Is there anything else I should be addressing with him or telling him in a different way?
AskDocWeb: If a doctor ignores your complaints, sometimes a fresh start is needed with a new doctor.
Subj: Adipex causing hairloss
I gain 60 pounds during my pregnancy. I went from 120 to 180 and I am only 5'2"! I was miserable and depressed, and everything diet and exercise program I tried wasn't working. I started taking adipex about 4 weeks ago, and I have lost about 15 pounds. I am very happy with the weight loss, but I think the adipex might be causing my hair to fall out. I have been noticing strands of my hair in the sink, on my shirts, and even on my baby! I can run my fingers through it and at least 5 strands fall out! I have really thin hair and can't afford to lose it the way that I am! What should I do? I don't know if losing weight is worth being bald! I also have been very stressed because my husband and I are building a house. I feel that stress could be playing a role too. I have only experienced hair loss during the fourth week and none during the first three. Please help!
AskDocWeb: You may want to discuss some of the many alternative weight loss products with your doctor. As you may already know, just the stress of dieting can also lead to hair loss.
Subj: I LOVE the pill!
I have been taking it on and off for about a year now... the first 6 weeks that I took it I lost 35 lbs.!! In total I have lost almost 60lbs taking adipex!! yes, it does make me irritable sometimes, and restless.. but, hey to me it's worth it! The biggest thing that can help it is WATER, WATER, and GYM, GYM, GYM will make it FALL OFF! So! Get in there and go for it! If I can do it! Anyone can!!
I have been taking phentermine for a week now and I feel kinda slugish. I haven't weighed myself to see how much weight I've lost. I am scared that I might get depressed. I haven't noticed any mood swings but I get so sleepy from taking the drug is that normal?
AskDocWeb: No, you shouldn't be sleepy with this drug since it is a stimulant. There could be something else going on so better have a consultation with your physician.
Subj: Amazed at the results!
I have been taking Adipex going on two months now. When I started I weight 220 now I'm down to 205. I'm starting to feel better about myself and it feels great that I can take my pants off without unbuttoning them. The only side effects I'm having is insomnia and recently I started taking Simply Sleep made by Tylenol that has helped a lot. If your over weight and have tried everything out there like me then I think you should try Adipex you will be amazed at the results! Good luck!
Subj: Safe way to order Adipex online?
Hello, I really love the results that I am seeing from using Adipex. I have lost around 25 pounds and my doctor will no long prescribe it to me. My target goal is 120lbs. I really would like to find a safe way to order it online to achieve my target weight. Do you think I will be at risk for health problems if I continue to take it? Also, do you have any suggestions to any online pharmacies that I could purchase Adipex? By the way I am 5'5 and a half and I am at 133lbs. Your input would be greatly appreciated Thank you,
AskDocWeb: Sorry Mia, they haven't figured out how to safely order online yet so there isn't an online pharmacy that we can recommend. You never know what you are actually getting. Also your BMI is not high enough to qualify for taking Adipex. This is a drug intended to treat obesity and you are not obese.
Subj: This stuff is amazing
This stuff is amazing. I've been taking only three days and I've already lost 5lbs. I take a 15 minute bike ride daily that's it. I am never hungry. I don't pig out like I use to at times. I feel always energized. I use to feel very lazy. Now I want to do everything. I was 5'7 169 lbs I am 164. And My shape is curving more I feel like I am shrinking. My close even fit nice and neater. I can't wait till the end of the week. It's amazing. I'm introducing this to my sister because she just had a baby. There is hope and plastic surgery is no longer needed. Thank you Lord. I can't wait to get to 140 to wear even cuter clothes.
Subj: I almost had a heart attack
I've been on this drug for 1 week @first I was during good the second week I ended up in the emergency room I had a drink of coffee one morning apparently this does not interact with caffenine I almost had a heart attack please don not use caffeine while taking this
Subj: Lost 50 lbs.
I started taking adipex in July 2007 and have lost about 50lbs. I've been off it since April 2008. Do you think the medication is out of my system and if so could I start taking it again.
AskDocWeb: It may take up to 2 weeks to get the Adipex completely out of your system. Starting again will depend on the assessment of your doctor.
Subj: Excessive Sweating
Excessive Sweating I have been using adipex for a little over a month and it has worked great. The only issue that I have noticed is I sweat all of the time. I am always hot and sweating!!! Is there anything that I can take to help with this problem.
AskDocWeb: Sorry, there is no anti-sweating formula or pill available.
Subj: It stopped working
My doctor prescribed adipex for me. I have taken the pill for a month and a half and lost only 10 pds. Once I reached 150, I am at a stand still. Nothing else will come off. I have been 150 for the last three weeks. Why has it stop working?
AskDocWeb: Sometimes the body builds up a tolerance for a drug and it stops working. You may need to change something else in your diet or the amount of exercise you are getting in order to start getting results again. In any case you need to let your doctor know what is happening, he may want to change your medication.
Subj: Notice a decrease in appetite
I just started taking generic Adipex today. I felt a little jittery on the half dose. I did notice a decrease in appetite though. I was told by my doctor that she would only give this for 3 months so I feel like I really have to work hard to loose this extra weight. I started loosing wight in Jan and have lost 15 lbs by myself so I'm really excited after reading the comments on this site. I have seen this med work first hand, I work in a doctors office and have seen people loose loads of weight. They all have reported working very hard. Our doctors do a great job monitoring this too so if you don't do well they don't give you another prescription. I hope I have luck with this. Thanks to everyone for the input.
Subj: Online pharmacy?
Hi, I took Adipex about five years ago after my 2nd child and it worked great. I ordered it from an online pharmacy a they just asked a series of questions and had to wait for approval. Now 2 years ago I went to a nutritonist and took Adipex again but was sooo expensive. I tried to order online again but can't seem to find legit sights. Have the online pharmacy regulations changed? If you know of a sight could you please let me know. I tried to go through my family Dr. but they won't prescribe weight loss meds. Why is that? I really need it to help me jump start my weight loss after the birth on my 3rd child 9 months ago. I'm 5'6 and 173! UGH!!! Please lead me in the right direction! Thank you,
AskDocWeb: Sorry Anna, the online pharmacy regulations have changed to the point where there is no longer any online source that can be recommended. Although you may be overweight, you are not obese and obesity is one of the requirements before Adipex can be rescribed. The right direction for you may include a nutritionist and a regular exercise program.
Subj: Excellent results with adipex
I experienced excellent results with adipex, but had major acne. Is there another drug I can take instead?
AskDocWeb: Yes, there are many drugs that can help with weight loss but only your doctor can say which one would be safe for you to use.
Subj: I WANT PHENTREMINE!
I am so not your normal fat girl. Even at 378 lbs, my BP was 121/80. I've always been active, up early, work hard and play hard. My problem is at night. I am/was a major snacker in the evenings. I want my calories back! I was determined to lose weight so I went to Jenny Craig. I lost 60 lbs in 6 months. The one thing I love about Jenny was it taught me portion control and to count those calories. Frustrated with the food choices, I decided to do it on my own. I did gain 12 lbs back over the next year (it's amazing what a few hundred extra calories a day will do to you!) Again, frustrated after trying the calorie counting thing & exercising more the weight was not coming off [fast enough] like I'd hoped. Out of the blue I totally remembered about my phen-phen friend of the 90's and the awesome pill adapex. I went straight to my Dr. and point blank told him why I was there. "I WANT PHENTREMINE!" I said. He was taken aback since he knows I rarely pop an aspirin. Lucky me! $90 bucks later I left with my prescription and actually waited at Walgreens for it to be filled. People that know me would think that is super funny as they know my philosophy is if I'm sitting down, I'm not making money. Anywho, Can you tell this stuff makes me Chatty Cathy or what! I only took the pill every other day, so 60 days later I'm 308. Off to the Dr. I go again because I will get below 300 this week (and keep on going, of course) Side effects: Unnecessary chatter, dry mouth, the urge to pick up a cigarette, and a freakishly clean closet!
